Joy in suffering

Chip Stam is a friend of my dad’s who is on the faculty at the School of Church Music and Worship at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in June of 2008 and after chemo, the doctors thought that the cancer was gone. Sadly, the cancer has returned. He is not deterred, however, from being joyful in Christ. Here is how he closed his most recent email

It is exciting to imagine how our gracious Lord will certainly accomplish his good purposes for those who love Him. Your prayers are precious to us at this time.

Would that I have such confidence and joy in our glorious Savior.
