Another Stellar review for Illinois

Stevens also lets you see right through it as a love story between himself and Jesus, God born human, a man stung and mocked and wrestled with. We may see ourselves as the members of a state or a country. There may be a kind of equality in a state of sin. But we are brought to an even greater unity when we love Jesus, who brings us into the highest relationship with God. Yet, in echoes of the narrator’s ecstasy, the chorus is left gasping inarticulately over the “great sights upon this state! Hallelu!/Wonders bright, and rivers, lake.” Stevens loves the country in much the same way he loves people: He senses the infinitude of God in both, and it sets him reeling.

Really looking forward to the Sufjan show in September

“Oh no. There’s no element of revenge in the character of God, but there’s definitely an aggressive joy. He’s not chasing you like a stalker, he’s chasing you like a lover chases you. There’s a lot of aggression in that kind of romance. We pursue things out of reverence, out of our need to worship.”

I reflect on what was not done at Srebrenica, and on what ought to have been done in Rwanda, and on what was put off too long with the Taliban and the Baathists, and I think what an honor it is to have such enemies. Co-existence with them is not possible, which is good, because it is not desirable or tolerable, either.

When will the iTunes Phone arrive?

It was predicted to appear on Tuesday. That didn’t happen.
Maybe the Apple Event on July 7? Who knows?
Is this what the phone looks like? I sure hope so.
Now a bombshell. A current Motorola phone already can received music transferred from iTunes.

This just keeps getting weirder.

I hanker for a hunka links

In the heat of partisan politics (out of which many of these overstatements and misunderstandings arise), we are tempted to forget that the most potent political act—the one act that deeply manifests and really empowers a “kind and noble society”—is the worship of Jesus Christ.

I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor, I’m a tumor

Nothing like using the death of thousands as a reason for a corporate merger

Macromedia, Adobe make peace for bigger fight: ZDNet Australia: News: Business:
“After 9/11, we both realised that being enemies didn’t make sense,” Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen said in a conference call on Monday, referring to his discussions with Macromedia’s then-CEO Rob Burgess. “We were not longer competing.”

That has to be one of the worst things I have ever read.

Boy, us Mac users are going to get screwed

Adobe to acquire Macromedia

We’ve already seen that the Mac versions of Acrobat don’t have the same features as the Windows versions. How long until Adobe gives it to Apple for coming out with Final Cut Pro and stops development of Mac versions of their apps?

I love that, with all the demands of huge movies, both Brian Singer and Peter Jackson can still have some fun.

Now I know why there were 3 other Chris’s in my 3rd grade class
