Yes you can continue to keep your Faith in tact. You really do need to be looking for other Christians. That way you both can stay on the right path. God luck.

Thanks for the comment, JJ. My question to you would be, couldn't you do those service projects on Saturday instead of Sunday and still potentially reach people who don't go to church? My worry, which I think echoes Kevin DeYoung's original article, is that there is something counter-cultural about gathered corporate worship with people of all ages, ethnicities, and preferences. It's a beautiful thing and to cancel it for service, while nobel, can unintentionally give the outside world that gathering to worship God isn't as important as it really is. Please don't think I'm accusing you of thinking little of worship, but I think it can be a concern.

Great post..I'm a youth pastor and our church does service projects every 6-7 weeks where we cancel service. And maybe I overlooked it but another reason why churches do it on sunday morning could be for this reason. And its the reason why we do it. Because we want to reach the people that don't go to church. Obviously its not always the case because some people may have went to early service or just didn't go that sunday, but mainly the people we come in contact with on that sunday during the service time arent church going people. Thanks for the post!!

That's awesome. I've been really been working at making this a part of our family's experience. I love your suggestion, keep it simple and make it part of the family meal. It will be cool to hear how it develops. I've been working at coming up with fun kid friendly worship and scripture based songs you might enjoy them. Check it out at holyoatmeal.com Great blog by the way.

There are differences between disciples and professed Christians, very possibly the difference between walking the wide road and breaching the narrow gate in Matthew 7:13,14. These are radical times. Apathetic or lukewarm Christians are in great spiritual danger. The key is Matthew 6:33, seek first His Kingdom…
